Functions of the
Public Service Commission

Appointment to the public service

Appointments into the public service are made in line with Section 7 and 8 of the Public Service Act, 2005 and its subsidiary legislations (Public Service Regulations 2008, Basic Conditions of Employment for Public Officers 2011 and HR Policy Manual). In the following types:
(a) Permanent & Pensionable (b) Contract (c) Temporary (d) Casual Labour

Confirmation in Appoinment

In accordance with Regulation 8 (9) of the Public Service Regulations 2008, the Commission confirms an officer in appointment and admits him/her into the permanent and pensionable establishment after a period of 12 months following his/her satisfactory performance.

Termination in Appointment

Public officers exit the public service either by voluntary or compulsory retirement, resignation, dismissal, or death with the approval of the Commission.
