Functions of the
Public Service Commission


Appointment into Public Services
Section in the Act 2005 states “entry and advancement into the public services”
Appointment into the Public Service eis made in line with Section 7 & 8 of the Public Service Act, 2005 and its subsidiary legislations (Public Service Regulations 2008, Basic Conditions of Employment for Public Officers 2011 & HR Policy Manual) which Stipulate that appointment shall be on the following terms.
a. Permanent & Pensionable
b. Contract
c. Temporary
d. Casual Labour
Confirmation in Appoinment
Regulation 8 (9) of the Public Service Regulations 2008 stipulates that; “At the end of the probation period (12), the officer shall be confirmed into the permanent and pensionable appointment if he or she has competently performed his or her duties.”
Termination in Appointment
Public officers exit the public service either by voluntary or compulsory retirement, resignation, dismissal, or death.
