Types of Appointment to the public service
In accordance with Section 7 (1) of the Public Service Act 2005,and its subsidiary legislations - Public Service Regulations 2008, Basic Conditions of Employment for Public Officers 2011 & HR Policy, any person who is appointed to the public service shall be appointed under any of the following types of appointment: a. Permanent & Pensionable b. Contract c. Temporary d. Casual Labour
Confirmation in Appoinment
Regulation 8 (9) of the Public Service Regulations 2008 stipulates that; “At the end of the probation period of twelve (12) months, the officer shall be confirmed in appointment and admitted into the permanent and pensionable establishment if he or she has competently performed his or her duties.”
Termination in Appointment
Public officers exit the public service either by voluntary or compulsory retirement, resignation, dismissal, or death.
